One of our valued clients recently asked us a very important question,
“What’s the best leadership development journey for an emerging leader?”
This client, probably not too dissimilar to you, has several highly skilled employees with outstanding technical abilities whom are all keen to step-up into a leadership role.
While everyone’s leadership journey is different and there is no ‘best journey’, I was reminded of John Maxwell’s book ‘The Five Levels of Leadership’ which outlines how leaders can increase their effectiveness. True leadership is a lifelong journey that requires constant learning but Maxwell outlines how to ascertain your current level of leadership, and how to climb to the next rank, and the next.
Maxwell defines the “five levels of leadership” as
- Position
- Permission
- Production
- People development
- Pinnacle
He explains that to advance to more advanced levels, you must go beyond Level 1, where you use your position to influence others, and grow to Level 2, building relationships; Level 3, producing results; Level 4, developing your employees’ talents; and Level 5, creating future leaders.
In our experience, nearly all significant periods of learning and growth require an intentional investment of either money and/or time. Therefore, we thought we might save you the time searching google by letting you know Creating Breakthroughs provide several experiential leadership development programs that are designed to help you and your emerging leaders advance their leadership journey and perhaps onto level 5 Pinnacle.
